President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to the warriors of the Air Assault Forces and the Special Operations Forces.
The Head of State handed over the Order of the Golden Star to the family of the fallen Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Maslovskyi (call sign “Cobra”), a warrior of the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade. He had been defending Ukraine since 2018. During the full-scale Russian invasion, he carried out combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, as well as in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation. On November 17 last year, near Trudove, Dmytro Maslovskyi fought against five Russian invaders who initiated an assault on the position where the Senior Soldier remained to provide cover. Under the intense small arms fire, Dmytro Maslovskyi eliminated and wounded four occupiers and engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the last one. The warrior managed to hold him off but was killed by multiple wounds.
“Dmytro's final battle in the Donetsk region was witnessed by millions of Ukrainians – he faced an occupier brought from Yakutia, 5,000 kilometers away, to kill our people. It was a heroic fight, and the bravery of our man was exemplary. Ukraine will always remember this bravery. And we will never forgive Russia for the deaths of our heroes – we will respond to the enemy for every such loss,” the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also presented the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III class, and the Orders “For Courage”, III class, to Ukrainian defenders who participated in the Kursk operation. In particular, the awards were given to the warriors who captured the first North Korean soldiers.
“Ukraine has not attacked Yakutia, nor Korea, nor any other nation that Moscow is pitting against us. Ukraine will withstand this thanks to the bravery of our people and thanks to our warriors like these. Glory to all those who are fighting for Ukraine,” the Head of State emphasized.
The participants paid tribute to the memory of all Ukrainians who gave their lives for Ukraine.
