In Budapest, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited a school where Ukrainian children study.
This is the first state Ukrainian-Hungarian bilingual secondary school and gymnasium. Its creation was agreed upon by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during the Hungarian leader’s visit to Kyiv in July of this year.
“I want to thank the Hungarian side for fulfilling our agreements. The school is open, and the children are receiving an education,” the President emphasized.
The President toured the school and spoke with middle and high school students. Additionally, the children sang a song they had prepared for the school’s Ukrainian Language and Literacy Week.
“I’m very glad to see you. Good for you for not forgetting Ukraine. You may be young Ukrainians now, but you’ll grow strong. I’m very happy that you remember everything, continue studying, and will definitely return to Ukraine after our victory,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The school opened on August 31 of this year and is fully funded by Hungary. Classes are taught in Ukrainian, and the curriculum also includes Hungarian and English. Currently, over 300 children are enrolled, with a staff of 33 teachers. The school has a capacity for 700 students in total.
