Churches in Ukraine are preparing for worship online, and Ukrainians have already ordered more than 14,000 parcels with consecrated paskha to be delivered this week. The Easter holiday was discussed at a traditional meeting chaired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on combating coronavirus.
In particular, about 126 thousand Ukrainians came to celebrate Western Easter compared to nearly 3 million people last year. At the same time, for violation of quarantine during worship services, the National Police opened administrative cases in seven regions.
"These figures show that most of the clergy and parishioners are aware of the danger posed by the coronavirus epidemic. Every day not dozens, but already hundreds are being infected in Ukraine. And meetings, crowds on Easter holidays are a direct way to get sick and infect your loved ones. That is why Easter in a new format this year is a true manifestation of love for our neighbor,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of supplying domestic ventilators to the hospitals. Currently, the technical parameters of the devices of two Ukrainian companies are being verified. If their quality indicators match the foreign equipment, Ukrainian hospitals will receive hundreds of devices in the coming weeks.
“The cost of such ventilators is several times lower than that of foreign equipment. We can better provide our doctors with the necessary equipment and save more lives,” the Head of State said.
Additionally, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba informed that currently 15,600 Ukrainians abroad use the Foreign Ministry's program to solve their logistical issues.
