During a working trip to the Luhansk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Head of State was vaccinated on the territory of the military mobile hospital № 59 together with military doctors and defenders who perform combat tasks on the frontline and are already undergoing planned vaccination.
The servicemen with whom the President was vaccinated said that before the procedure everyone was examined - doctors measured their temperature, pressure and oxygen saturation. After vaccination, everyone felt good.
The military noted that the procedure was painless.
Prior to the vaccination, the President gave his written consent to be vaccinated. Volodymyr Zelenskyy was informed about a possible side effect - body temperature rise.
"This is normal, it can happen after each vaccine," the President said.
He stressed the importance of vaccination against COVID-19.
"Vaccination is important. I know what COVID-19 is because I had this disease. Therefore, I suggest that everyone be vaccinated. Despite the fact that I recovered from COVID-19, my antibody level is very low," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President stressed that vaccination would help overcome the pandemic and return to normal life.
"I think this vaccine (Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) - ed.) is of high quality, it is one of the best in the world. It is impossible to overcome COVID-19 only by means of protection. You will have to be vaccinated. I believe that the vaccine is a real way to return to normal life," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also honored the memory of medics who died saving the lives of Ukrainian servicemen. The President laid flowers to the memorial to the victims.
