President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy together with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal paid tribute to the Chernobyl liquidators.
The Head of State laid flowers on the monument to the Chernobyl Heroes located in the Chernobyl NPP near the power plant unit exploded in 1986.
“The Chernobyl disaster is without exaggeration of a planetary scale. It has become not only a bitter lesson from the recent past, but also a warning for the future. Planet Earth is a cradle and a home for all humanity, and therefore its preservation is the responsibility of every human being and a shared duty of all nations of the world,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The attendees honored the memory of the rescuers with a moment of silence.
