President paid tribute to the Kruty Heroes

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy participated in the ceremony of commemoration of the Kruty Heroes.

The Head of State laid flowers at the memorial cross at Askold's Grave in Kyiv.

The memory of the fallen heroes was honored with a moment of silence. The National Anthem of Ukraine was played. The warriors of the Honor Guard saluted from personal weapons.

The President also laid flowers at the graves of ATO participants killed in eastern Ukraine.

The Head of State visited St. Nicholas Church at Askold's Grave.

On his Facebook page, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the Battle of Kruty was another heroic page in the history of struggle of Ukrainians for their own statehood.

"This is, first of all, about the incredible bravery and courage of very young, not fully trained cadets, students and high school students who stood up for the Ukrainian state and managed to stop the foe that greatly outmatched them in terms of both numbers and weapons," the President wrote.

"We pay tribute to the resilience and courage of young men who, like today's defenders of Ukraine in the east, serve as a worthy example to our future generations," the President added.
