In the framework of his participation in the NATO Summit in Vilnius, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The leaders discussed key issues of Ukraine's interaction with the European Union and our country's progress on the path of European integration.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the issue of Ukraine's preparation to the start of negotiations on EU membership and reviewed the state of implementation of the relevant seven recommendations of the European Commission by our country.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the President of the European Council for his leadership in supporting Ukraine on the way to EU membership.
The parties noted the importance of the approval of the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine by the G7 leaders, which is an important step in the formation of the future system of guaranteeing the security of our state until Ukraine gains full membership in NATO.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Charles Michel also discussed the EU sanctions policy and the need to further increase sanctions pressure on Russia.
