President of Ukraine met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne.

The Head of State thanked Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau personally for the support official Ottawa provides to Ukraine.

“There are many countries with which Ukraine has friendly relations, but with Canada they are really special. There are many programs aimed to support Ukraine in Canada: it is both a reform program and veterans' rehabilitation - we are very grateful for all that,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

The parties discussed in detail the investigation of the Ukrainian plane crash in Iran. It was a matter of compensation to the relatives of the deceased, full investigation of the tragedy, study of "black boxes".

The President noted: “Ukraine is fully open in this issue. And, if necessary, it is ready to cooperate with international partners for the fullest possible retrieval of information from the "black boxes".

The parties also discussed the progress of reforms in Ukraine. Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne expressed content with their high pace.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the issue of investments.

“From an economic point of view, infrastructure is our priority. We need to "stitch" the country, so we invite Canadian investors. We will simplify the system of investment, communications, protect the rights in order to create high-quality infrastructure and jobs in Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

The President of Ukraine spoke in detail about concession projects, large-scale privatization, and also focused on reforming the legal system.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the Canadian delegation about the situation in Donbas.
