President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Minister for Defence of the Kingdom of Sweden Pål Jonson, who visited our country on the second anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
The Head of State said that the visit of the Swedish defence minister is an essential sign of solidarity from his country with Ukraine.
"Today is the day when this tragedy began, and it is crucial for us when our friends are here," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the government of Sweden for its vigorous and concrete support for Ukraine, primarily in defense. In particular, he expressed gratitude for the recently announced 15th package totaling almost EUR 700 million, which became the largest in volume. It includes priority artillery rounds, air defense systems, and anti-tank weapons. Sweden has also contributed to the practical implementation of the maritime capability coalition.
At the meeting, prospects for establishing joint weapon production and future bilateral negotiations on signing a security agreement were discussed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also highly appreciated Sweden's support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula and informed about preparations for the inaugural Global Peace Summit, scheduled to be held in Switzerland.
