President met with the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, who is on a visit to Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy highly appreciated the assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian aggression.

“We are extremely grateful to you for the support. The United States has been powerfully supporting us since the first days of this war not only with weapons, but also on the financial front. We really appreciate it,” the Head of State emphasized.

The President noted the decision of the U.S. administration announced on February 24 to allocate USD 9.9 billion in direct budget support to our country in 2023. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that these funds are extremely important, as they allow us to cover the unfunded part of the state budget and support the segments of the population that need it most.

The Head of State highly appreciated the support provided by the United States with the involvement of the International Monetary Fund. During the meeting, attention was paid to the current state of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF and prospects for the implementation of the Fund's programs.

The issue of rebuilding Ukraine's infrastructure destroyed by Russian aggression was discussed separately. The importance of involving the private sector in the implementation of relevant projects was emphasized. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of developing mechanisms to direct the seized Russian assets to rebuild our country.

The President expressed gratitude for the systematic steps of the American side aimed at further increasing sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. He emphasized the need to strengthen sanctions in order to deprive Russia of the opportunity to finance the war.
