On the International Day of liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, a basket of flowers from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was placed on the Babyn Yar Memorial Complex.
In addition, flower arrangements were placed on the memorial sign to those killed in Syrets concentration camp, as well as on the memorial sign "Memory for the Future" in the territory of the Babyn Yar National Historical and Memorial Reserve.
"On this day in 1945, in one of the largest concentration camps in Nazi Germany, Buchenwald, the prisoners rebelled and took control of the situation. And soon the troops of the anti-Hitler coalition completed their liberation. At that difficult time, people of different nationalities, views, and faiths came together to cast off a yoke of the regime of antihumanism. Eternal memory to the martyrs and victims of World War II,” the President of Ukraine said.
The Head of State paid tribute to his fellow countrymen who went through the hell of the Nazi concentration camps and passed all the challenges.
"I wish everyone health, faith and hope in the fight for a better future," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
