President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes the importance of combating smuggling and requires the Security Service of Ukraine to demonstrate the first results of work in two weeks. The Head of State told this during a meeting with Ivan Bakanov, Acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

"We are not talking about our personal relations now, we are talking about an enormous responsibility to the people of Ukraine. You are the Acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine. I really want you to be respected not only by me as a friend, but also by the people of Ukraine. We have got very little time to reboot the Security Service. We need real criminal cases. We must deal with smuggling," the President said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the officials of the Security Service must prove that they are not only experts, but also decent men. Hence, it is important that they work for Ukraine irrespective of the surname of the President,” the Head of State noted.

“There is an enormous demand for justice. We must show the public that the Security Service is really working. I would like the whole world to see that we started to build Ukraine from scratch,” the President stressed.

For his part, Ivan Bakanov noted that smuggling and shadow economy that exhaust the country should be overcome.

"The Security Service will do everything in its power to fulfill your commissions as soon as possible," the Acting Head of the Security Service said.

He emphasized that he would strive to cultivate human values in the Security Service.

"We always told each other the truth, did not allow the others to tell lies. We never stole, we did not allow others to steal and always remained human beings. It seems to me that such values should be the priority of the Security Service. Under all circumstances, we must remain human beings," Ivan Bakanov emphasized.
