During a working trip to the Kyiv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Hryhorii Skovoroda Memorial Museum in the city of Pereiaslav.
On the territory of the museum there is a commemorative sign for the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Ukrainian philosopher, which was installed on the occasion of the inclusion of this date in the UNESCO Calendar of Commemorative Dates. It depicts a drawing of a thinker, reflecting his philosophical views.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy watched the museum's exposition. In particular, rare books of the XVII-XIX centuries, a collection of ancient textbooks, which were used for studying 200 years ago, are stored here.
In one of the rooms, there is a portrait of Hryhorii Skovoroda made at the end of the XVIII century, which is considered the oldest in Ukraine.
In addition, the museum exhibits ancient musical instruments and typical peasant clothing of the XIX century.
The Head of State was told about the cultural and artistic project "With Skovoroda in the Heart" launched in May 2021. Towels with authentic ornaments, which were characteristic of the period when Hryhorii Skovoroda lived and worked in Pereiaslav, are created within the project.
The President visited the hall, where the interior of a classroom from Skovoroda's time was recreated.
"The history of our state is created and transmitted by people. Skovoroda is one of those outstanding people who have been carrying this history, carrying Ukrainian for 300 years. He carries the fire of knowledge and cognition. And when you want to understand what Ukraine is like, how it lives, how it inspires, you can understand it thanks to thoughts, books, paintings, art, songs," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy after visiting the museum.
