President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the rescuers on their professional holiday and noted the winners of the nationwide action “Hero - Rescuer of the Year”.
During the celebrations of the Rescuers Day held in the courtyard of the Mariyinsky Palace in Kyiv, the Head of State stressed that rescuers are courageous people who defend the homeland in the east and come to help every citizen in all corners of Ukraine.
“Your profession is dangerous and at the same time very reputable. Every day, you make difficult and responsible decisions, but unfortunately fateful decisions for someone. Thank you and low bow to you for everything you do,” the President stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked all the rescuers, congratulated them on the holiday and presented the awards.
The President called it symbolic that the nationwide action “Hero - Rescuer of the Year” had been held on the Day of Rescuer for 16 years already.
The Head of State noted that the laureates of the action, at first glance, are ordinary people from different parts of Ukraine, who may have never met in other circumstances.
“But the misfortune of others and their courage have forever united them into one powerful team - a team of real heroes of Ukraine. These are people with a great soul. People who really care. Men, women and children who did not seek glory from their deeds, but simply did as their heart told them. Let the gratitude of parents who nearly lost their only child and the gratitude of children who did not become orphans always protect you and your families,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
