As part of his visit to Sweden, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Speaker of the Riksdag (Parliament) of the Kingdom of Sweden Andreas Norlén and the leaders of the political parties represented in the country's highest legislative body.
The Head of State thanked the Swedish parliamentarians for their solidarity with Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and support for all important decisions regarding assistance to our country.
"We are especially grateful to Sweden for the powerful defense assistance, which significantly strengthened the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the defense of the Ukrainian sky. I am counting on the expansion of cooperation between our countries in this area," Zelenskyy said.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The President thanked the Riksdag for supporting his proposals to establish a lasting and just peace. The Head of State noted the importance of Sweden's practical involvement in the implementation of the Formula's points on ensuring radiation, nuclear and ecological safety.
The parties also discussed steps to bring Ukraine closer to the EU. Zelenskyy thanked the Riksdag for its strong support on this path during Swedish presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2023.
The President expressed special thanks to the Swedish Parliament for its participation in international efforts to de-occupy Crimea.
