In Vilnius, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis.
The Head of State thanked the Lithuanian Parliament for its strong position in support of Ukraine and noted the relevant initiatives of the Lithuanian MPs.
“We know that eight Seimas resolutions have been approved in support of Ukraine. We really appreciate it. As well as recognition of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as genocide. This is important for us,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President told about the temporary checkpoints built on the administrative border with Crimea. "Come and see their level - they are European, comfortable and necessary for people," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately commended the activities of the ProUkraine deputy group and the Friends of Ukrainian Crimea Group in the Seimas of Lithuania.
The Head of State also expressed gratitude for the continued solidarity of the Republic of Lithuania with Ukraine in the framework of international parliamentary formats, first of all in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In this context, he praised the launch of the PACE Baltic Plus Initiative.
"Strong support of Lithuania in the PACE is very important for Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President emphasized the important role of interparliamentary cooperation and commended traditionally active working contacts between the parliaments of Ukraine and Lithuania.
