President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the chairs and representatives of the parliaments of foreign countries visiting Ukraine. President of the Senate of Belgium Stephanie D'Hose; Chairman of the Senate of Ireland Jerry Buttimer; Speaker of the Parliament of Finland Jussi Halla-aho; President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil; President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Markéta Pekarová Adamová; President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and a Member of the Polish Sejm Michal Szczerba; Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament Marko Mihkelson; and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm Paweł Kowal attended the meeting.
Welcoming the foreign parliamentarians, the Head of State thanked them for visiting Kyiv on this special day when Ukrainians commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932–1933.
"For us, it's a great honor that today you found the opportunity to come to us and share this special historical day with Ukraine," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to each country for their unwavering political, defense, economic, and humanitarian support to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
"Grateful to the peoples of your countries for the support and solidarity with Ukraine. We wish you peace and prosperity. And may you never go through the trials Ukraine is currently facing," the Head of State said.
Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the parliaments of Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Poland, Finland, and the Czech Republic for recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people at the national level.
"It is crucial for restoring historical justice. It is a clear signal to the aggressor: fair punishment for all past and present crimes is inevitable," the President said.
He informed the chairs and parliament members about the effectiveness of Ukraine's humanitarian initiative "Grain from Ukraine" and thanked the governments of partner countries for supporting this program and participating in its second summit.
"The Ukrainian people, like no one else, know what difficult challenges are and how hard it is to overcome them. Therefore, Ukraine is ready to help others, including through its 'Grain from Ukraine' program. Thank you for supporting this and other important Ukrainian initiatives," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At the meeting, possible ways to strengthen international support for Ukraine were also discussed, particularly in the context of European integration and the approach to EU accession.
