In Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with members of the Ukrainian Caucus (support group) in the United States Congress.
The President thanked the US delegation, which was represented at a high level, for participating in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence and the first summit of the Crimea Platform.
The President of Ukraine noted the effective bipartisan and bicameral support in the US Congress, which is an important foundation for strategic partnership and is based on common values and long-term interests.
"We continue to uphold shared democratic values with the United States and are interested in taking the strategic partnership to a whole new level," he said.
The President invited the American party to join the implementation of the Plan for the Transformation of the Ukrainian Economy presented by him in Washington.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also informed the representatives of the Congress about the reforms being implemented in Ukraine.
"We are taking decisive steps to accelerate the real transformation of Ukraine and have a clear plan for the implementation of priorities, including anti-corruption policy and judicial reform," the President stressed.
The interlocutors paid considerable attention to the security situation around Ukraine and in the region, the situation in Donbas and in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
A separate topic for dialogue was security issues related to Russia's implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project.
"Sanction pressure on this project must be maintained. Only US sanctions on Nord Stream 2 can stimulate Russia to make agreements and observe them," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President also expressed Ukraine's interest in expanding cooperation with the United States in the field of education.
He also thanked the American party for the treatment and rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military and noted that he counts on the support of the United States in establishing a network of medical and rehabilitation centers for the military in Ukraine.
In addition, during the conversation, the parties discussed the events in Afghanistan and the steps taken by Ukraine and the United States to evacuate their citizens from this country.
Co-Chair of the Ukrainian Caucus Marcy Kaptur, for her part, noted the activity, ambition and leadership of the President of Ukraine in carrying out large-scale transformations and reforms in Ukraine, which have not been possible before.
She assured the President of the support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and all positive changes in our state.
