President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the bipartisan delegation of the Senate of the U.S. Congress including Joseph Manchin, Lisa Murkowski and Mark Kelly.
Welcoming the senators, the Head of State thanked them for their visit to Ukraine, which is an important signal of support for our country and the Ukrainian people.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the powerful assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine.
"Bicameral and bipartisan support from the United States, President Biden personally, and all Americans helped us survive the war unleashed by Russia," he emphasized.
The Head of State informed the Senate delegation about the situation on the frontline and shared assessments of its development in the near future.
In this context, further directions of American assistance and the role of Congress in this process were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The President separately emphasized that Ukraine needs powerful defense support today, and there should be no restrictions on providing the defense forces with the necessary military equipment and weapons.
"We are fighting for common values - freedom and democracy. Our victory will be decisive for the development of the situation in Europe and throughout the world," the Head of State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the continuation of such comprehensive support - defense and financial - is the key to our victory over the aggressor. At the same time, it was noted that Ukraine ensures the necessary control over the use of American taxpayers' funds and provided weapons and is open to full cooperation with partners in this matter.
