President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.
“I am grateful for solidarity and sympathy on the part of the EU leadership. We are working hard to find out the causes of the air crash in Tehran and are ready to work closely with the countries whose citizens died as a result of this horrific tragedy,” the President of Ukraine said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine was ready to participate as much as possible in the investigation of the causes of the catastrophe in accordance with international law, and Ukrainian representatives were ready to actively participate in the activities of a special joint investigative team in Iran.
The Head of State informed that on January 9, a Ukrainian plane had landed in Iran with officials from expert and search and rescue teams who had already started their work.
In addition, the President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the EU's continued and uncompromising support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The interlocutors discussed the situation in the east of our country and the possibility of Josep Borrell’s visit to Donbas.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also suggested coordinating further steps in realizing the priorities of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. “We look forward to holding a meeting of the Association Council in Brussels on January 28 this year under your co-chairmanship. This meeting should summarize the implementation of the agreements reached during previous EU-Ukraine summit and determine the steps for a successful next summit this summer,” the President of Ukraine said.
