President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Turkish leader congratulated Ukraine and the Ukrainian people on the 30th anniversary of independence, and thanked for the participation of Ukrainian planes, helicopters and rescuers in the liquidation of the consequences of wildfires in Turkey.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again expressed his sincere condolences to the Turkish people over the numerous victims of floods and forest fires.
"Ukraine is always ready to help the friendly people of Turkey," the Ukrainian President stressed.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that from the first days of initiating the Crimea Platform, Turkey has supported and will continue to support its work. He also said that the Republic of Turkey will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the founding summit of the initiative.
"I am convinced that the Crimea Platform will become an effective tool in the liberation of the illegally occupied Crimea," said the President of Turkey. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed that the position of the Republic of Turkey on supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders and non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea remains unchanged and is actively promoted on all international platforms.
"Thank you for your solidarity with the Ukrainian people and for such a clear and consistent position. It is extremely important for us. Especially today, on the eve of the launch of the Crimea Platform," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine separately addressed the leader of Turkey with a request to assist in the release of more than 100 Crimean Tatars illegally detained by the Russian Federation.
During the conversation, the President of Ukraine invited the President of Turkey to pay a visit to Ukraine.
