President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte.
The President thanked his interlocutor and the Italian government for the prompt allocation of humanitarian aid to Ukraine to overcome the consequences of floods in the western regions.
"The equipment provided by Italy will help us cope faster with the consequences of the disaster and restore the damaged infrastructure of Prykarpattia. I am grateful for the promptness of your decision and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
Giuseppe Conte, in turn, thanked Ukraine for sending Ukrainian doctors to help fight COVID-19 in the Italian Republic.
The parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and Italy in the context of overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister of Italy wished the First Lady Olena Zelenska a speedy recovery.
The interlocutors expressed hope for the resumption of scheduled flights between the two countries in the near future. The Prime Minister of Italy stressed that he greatly appreciated Ukrainian tourists.
In addition, the parties hope for a speedy restoration of economic ties.
Special attention was paid to the security situation in eastern Ukraine. The Head of State noted little progress in implementing the Paris Summit agreements, although Ukraine, for its part, complied with all its commitments.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Italian Republic for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Head of State hopes for a fair decision of the Italian court regarding the Ukrainian National Guard official Vitalii Markiv and his return to Ukraine as soon as possible.
The President reiterated the invitation to Giuseppe Conte to visit Ukraine, and the Italian Prime Minister expressed hope that the visit could take place by the end of this year.
