President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The President of Ukraine informed of the security situation in Donbas, as well as the efforts of the Ukrainian party aimed at achieving peace in the region.
The President thanked Germany for its unwavering support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state.
"Thank you for your assessment of our efforts towards a ceasefire in Donbas and a peaceful settlement. Achieving peace remains a key priority for me and for all Ukrainians," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
For her part, Angela Merkel assured that Germany would continue to make every effort to achieve progress in the peace process. At the same time, she stressed the importance of implementing the Paris agreements reached in the Normandy format, especially the observance of the ceasefire by the parties.
The leaders of the two countries noted the importance of further coordination of steps for a peaceful settlement in Donbas, and expressed hope that tomorrow's meeting of advisors to the leaders of the Normandy format will bring clear decisions and results, and that a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders will take place shortly.
Angela Merkel stressed that Ukraine can count on the support of Germany and France on the way to resolving the issue of the war in Donbas.
The proximity of positions of Germany and Ukraine regarding the events in the Republic of Belarus was noted. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine joined the EU statement on the presidential elections in Belarus.
