President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The parties discussed the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world, as well as the practical measures taken in both countries to counteract the pandemic. They agreed to ensure the information sharing about the pandemic, in particular with regard to medical standards for the treatment of the disease.
In the context of a possible increase in financial assistance to Ukraine for the fight against coronavirus, the parties agreed to redirect EUR 150 million within the state German loan for the relevant needs.
The Federal Chancellor commended the recent approval of the laws on the agricultural land circulation and regulation of banking activities. In this context, she also stressed the importance of completing negotiations with the IMF on a new cooperation program as soon as possible. They also noted the need for allocating additional funding for Ukraine from the European Union and the World Bank.
The Head of State informed Angela Merkel about the security situation in Donbas. The results of recent consultations within the Trilateral Contact Group were also discussed. The parties separately negotiated the prospects of continuing negotiations in the Normandy format.
