President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held the first conference call in self-isolation after learning about a positive COVID-19 test. The meeting was dedicated to the work of NNEGC Energoatom. It was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olha Buslavets, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services Andriy Gerus, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Yulia Kovaliv, Acting President of Energoatom Petro Kotin and his deputies, as well as representatives of security agencies.
The President got himself acquainted with the implementation of Decree of the President of Ukraine № 406 "On urgent measures to stabilize the situation in the energy sector and further development of nuclear energy" of September 22, 2020.
Following the discussion of the current state of NNEGC Energoatom, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the need to immediately settle the issue of debt repayment to the company for the supplied electricity, which will ensure its further stable operation and fully finance capital investment programs aimed at developing and maintaining the safety of NPP operation.
The parties also stressed the need for the government to enhance the management of NNEGC Energoatom in accordance with the above mentioned decree and accelerate the development and adoption of the necessary legislative changes.
Denys Shmyhal said that the Cabinet of Ministers is taking measures to settle the issue of debt repayment to NNEGC Energoatom, corporatization and transfer of management functions to the government of Ukraine, which aims to improve its financial situation and the quality of management.
