President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stands for the accession of the United States to the negotiation process to end the war in Donbas, which has been going on in central Europe since 2014.
"I believe that the process for the sake of the process does not work. We see the slowdown in the Normandy format, and I'm talking about it openly. That is why I called for the involvement of powerful countries, powerful geopolitical players who can influence the Russian Federation, and that means the end of the war in Ukraine. That is why I called for the expansion of the Normandy format," the President said, answering journalists' questions at a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda in Vilnius.
He stressed that he would really like the power of such a strategic partner as the United States to help Ukraine end the war in Donbas.
The President of Ukraine noted that the format of the peace process could also be changed or a parallel negotiation format could be created so as not to violate certain existing agreements within the Normandy format.
At the same time, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the main thing is for such a negotiation format to be efficient.
"If Russia is forced by our joint efforts or agrees to end the war thanks to our joint diplomatic work, it will do so, regardless of the number of added states and formats," the President of Ukraine concluded.
