President of Ukraine: The main priority is equal and uniform rules of the game for all

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that it is only fair competition that makes it possible to build a successful economy, thus, uniform rules of the game for everyone are the priority of the Ukrainian authorities.

“I will start with the top priority - equal and uniform rules of the game for all. For large, medium and small enterprises. Both Ukrainian and international. In 28 years this has become a kind of Ukrainian UFO - everyone is talking about it, but no one has seen it. We will change this, because we are well aware that only fair competition allows us to build a prosperous economy, a prosperous Ukraine,” the Head of State said during a speech at the RE: THINK. Invest in Ukraine Forum in Mariupol.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that overcoming corruption and the effective work of law enforcement agencies was a necessary foundation for equal rules of the game.

"We conduct a purge at the Prosecutor General's Office, a long-awaited reform of the Security Service of Ukraine, we support the full independence of NABU, SAP and SBI," the President said.

He is hopeful that the investigation into high-profile corruption cases, as well as the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet, Kateryna Handziuk and other public activists would be carried out properly and that all the perpetrators would be punished.

According to the President, for the work of law enforcement agencies not to be futile, a real, not “frontal” reform of the judicial system must be carried out.

“Corrupt courts deter investors just as explosions and shots. Realizing this, we finally launched the Supreme Anticorruption Court, began cleaning up the Supreme Court and the entire judicial system. Not only Ukrainian, but also international experts are involved in this process,” the Head of State said.

He also recalled that during the crisis, taxpayer losses in the financial sector reached $ 15 billion. About 100 banks were withdrawn from the market, including Delta Bank, Nadra Bank, Finance and Credit Bank, while PrivatBank was nationalized.

“In each of these cases, I say again, I will only protect the interests of the state of Ukraine. The interests of every Ukrainian. All these problems should not be solved at the expense of taxpayers. This is a very important message, and I want to reach out to anyone who spreads rumors that someone from the President's team or the new government is going to return the banks to the former owners - no, that's not true,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
