The government is to present a plan for the preservation of district hospitals and the provision of medical services in rural areas shortly. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives within a working trip to the Poltava region.
"We are waiting for this presentation from the Minister of Health, from the Prime Minister of Ukraine, where hospitals will be preserved. And infrastructure will be built very quickly in places where they are not available, so that a person from a small village can get to a hub hospital as soon as possible. If it is far, then there should be a hospital of one level or another. I am sure that in the near future we will see this presentation in the Office of the President, and then society will also see and review it," the Head of State said.
The President noted that during working trips to the regions of Ukraine he often learns about certain psychiatric hospitals and tuberculosis dispensaries that were planned to be closed as part of the medical reform approved by the previous government. Therefore, it is necessary to intervene in the "manual mode" to prevent the closure of such important medical institutions.
"Therefore, we will correct this medical reform - this should be done by the Ministry of Health - and we will correct such financial injustice and other things," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
According to the President, it is also necessary to correct the unfair situation with different levels of salaries among doctors in various branches of medicine.
As for poverty, first of all it is a question of salaries, of medical reform, which, as we know, has partly advantages and partly great disadvantages due to the inequality of salaries of doctors of different branches - "primary care" and other doctors. There is a big difference, unfair, dishonest. It will not be like that - we will fix such things," the Head of State stressed.
