On National Flag Day and on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Joseph Biden.
The Head of State thanked for the congratulations and unwavering American support.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian people, I express my gratitude to you personally, your administration, Congress and all the American people for the support that the United States has been providing to our country since the first days of the war. This support enables us to withstand and preserve our statehood,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He thanked the United States for adopting another sanctions package today, that targets Russia's fuel and energy sectors, metallurgy, finance, and military-industrial complex; he also emphasized the importance of continued sanctions pressure on Russia.
In addition, the Ukrainian leader noted the allocation of a new defense assistance package.
The President said that Ukraine urgently needs the delivery of weapons from the announced defense packages, in particular, additional air defense systems to reliably protect cities, communities and critical infrastructure.
The parties coordinated further bilateral contacts.
