The Lviv region has been the leader in the number of patients with coronavirus for the tenth consecutive day. Over the last 24 hours, 143 new cases have been detected there, three people died. This was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a traditional conference call chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on preventing the spread of coronavirus.
"In Zakarpattia, more than 70% of beds of medical institutions prepared for the first wave of the epidemic are occupied. With such dynamics it is necessary to prepare for the second wave. I still hope that we will be able to avoid the worst case scenario. But medicine must be ready for anything," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The government is preparing hospitals for the second wave of the epidemic. Now there are beds for almost 30 thousand patients, and ventilators are used a little, there is a sufficient number of them.
The Cabinet of Ministers also stressed that they are not going to resume the activity of children's camps yet.
The President was also informed about the situation in Prykarpattia and the international assistance to the victims. In particular, the first plane arrived from Italy delivering aid for the victims of the flood - boats, pumps, special suits.
