During a working trip to Bukovyna, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with doctors from the Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital who were the first in Ukraine to face COVID-19 and fight the disease.
The President noted the courage, resilience and professionalism of doctors in combating the coronavirus epidemic and presented them with state awards and valuable gifts.
"As it turned out this year, the doctors of our country faced the most difficult job - fighting a major disease. In such difficult times, we understand even more how important your profession is for every Ukrainian, now everyone has felt it themselves," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that, unfortunately, in quiet times, doctors were not given due attention.
"Now we are doing and will do everything to make you both socially and financially protected," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the level of work of the doctors of the medical institution. He noted that the Chernivtsi region had suffered the strongest blow from COVID-19.
"When there was "calm" in some regions, no one saw the threat, walked without masks, without other means of protection against COVID-19, in the Chernivtsi region there was a wave that demolished everything, and you withstood it," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the doctors who saved the lives of Ukrainians.
"I am sure that expressing gratitude to you, I thank all the doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers who also helped you fight COVID-19. But you cannot relax. This struggle is not over yet, and we, as citizens of Ukraine, count on you,” the President emphasized.
Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Serhiy Osachuk also thanked the doctors for saving lives during the fight against coronavirus.
