The President is closely monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 epidemic

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a daily meeting with government and law enforcement officials to combat the COVID-19 epidemic.

The relatively high number of ill patients over the last day - 467 people - may be an echo of Easter. In terms of the dynamics of the spread of the disease, the Mykolaiv region becomes a leader with 41 new cases recorded over the day.

“We have a well-established system for monitoring the spread of the epidemic. We are constantly improving our help system. Our next challenge will be the May holidays. I hope we will pass them calmly, without crowds of people,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that the United Nations allocates funds to the countries in need to combat coronavirus. Ukraine is to receive USD 140 million.

“We are now considering options where the given money should be allocated. We believe they should be directed to the regions adjacent to the delimitation line,” the Prime Minister said.
