As part of the President's initiative to provide housing for servicemen – Heroes of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented 30 apartment certificates to the military and families of the fallen defenders who were conferred the highest state title.
The event was held at the Mariyinsky Palace in the capital.
"Today we continue a new tradition of our country – the tradition of special gratitude and respect for Ukrainian Heroes. For people who have distinguished themselves with special bravery and a special attitude towards Ukraine. Such courage and devotion made them, our Heroes, part of Ukraine's independence," the President said in his address to the audience.
According to him, the basis of Ukraine's independence is the people whose courage, strength and commitment to the nation ensure the existence of the state and respect for it in the world.
"Ukrainians will never give up their independence and their own state, and Ukraine will never betray the memory of its Heroes – the Heroes of Ukraine. Please be proud of our people who fought in such a way that they became a paragon for generations," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of all the fallen Heroes of Ukraine.
"Let everyone in Ukraine remember the high cost of preserving our lives, the life of Ukraine, and its independence," the Head of State added.
The President personally handed over apartment certificates to servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine: Colonel Serhiy Baranovskyi, Senior Lieutenant Andriy Doktorenko, Captain Yevheniy Palchenko, Colonel Rodion Kulahin, Captain Ihor Kharchenko, Colonel Denys Chayuk, Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Peretiatko, Colonel Viktor Sikoza, Major Volodymyr Hutsul and Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Burkovskyi. Colonel Denys Shleha of the National Guard of Ukraine also received the certificate.
The Head of State handed over apartment certificates to the families of the fallen Heroes of Ukraine, including those from the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Kolomiiets, Lieutenant Colonel Hennadiy Matuliak, Lieutenant Vitaliy Movchan, Senior Lieutenant Viacheslav Radionov, Lieutenant Colonel Stepan Choban, Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Vasylyev, Sailor Valeriy Samofalov, Senior Lieutenant Andriy Khomenko, Staff Sergeant Serhiy Kulyk, Chief Sergeant Kyrylo Marach, Sergeant Yevhen Khrapko, Senior Sergeant Mykhailo Chabanenko, Chief Sergeant Mykola Yanyshyn, Soldier Taras Dovhun and Major Oleksandr Borys. Also, the relatives of three fallen national guardsmen received housing documents: Chief Sergeant Mykola Nosenko, Lieutenant Stanislav Partala and Major Vitaliy Blazhko. Also, the relatives of Colonel Mykhailo Kuratchenko, the fallen head of the Main Department of the National Police of Ukraine in Cherkasy region, received a certificate for an apartment.
At the initiative of the President, all servicemen and families of fallen defenders who have been conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine will receive housing from the state.
