During a working trip to the Poltava region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the project of reconstruction of the runway of Poltava regional utility company "Airport-Poltava".
Acting Director General of the company Volodymyr Okara noted that the regional budget financed measures for the development of "Airport-Poltava" in the amount of UAH 78.2 million. In particular, the airport building was overhauled with the construction of an international checkpoint, the current repair of the artificial runway, steering road and platform was carried out. Special equipment was also purchased, but the measures taken are not enough to meet the requirements of aviation security and conduct international and domestic flights. For the full functioning of the enterprise it is necessary to reconstruct the runway, replace the lighting system of the artificial runway of the airport, install aircraft landing systems, reconstruct the perimeter fence of the airport, purchase the necessary transport. The runway allows landing of Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
Volodymyr Okara noted that UAH 425 million should be allocated for the reconstruction of the runway.
"We need to make a runway. There is no point in maintenance, because you spend money on it, and the runway is still not functioning," the President stressed.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the repair of the runway should start this year. In particular, funds for the repair will be envisaged in the regional budget.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that next year the work on the repair of the runway will be included in the National Program "Great Construction". At the expense of the budget of the Poltava region the design and estimate documentation should be developed this year.
"We will add all airports to the program. Priority will be given to those cities, those airports that have documents. There is either a runway or a terminal across the country. And if the documents are available this year, we will build it next year," the President said.
