During a working trip to the Dnipropetrovsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the construction and reconstruction of roads carried out in the framework of the National Program "Great Construction".
In particular, Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the section of the M-04 Dnipro-Kryvyi Rih highway, the length of which in the Dnipropetrovsk region is 299 km.
Road workers said that 44 km of the road are currently being repaired. In areas with milled asphalt, a leveling layer of the road surface is being laid. In addition, workers remove shrubs along the entire length of the site and carry out dismantling work.
It is also planned to repair 75.4 km of the M-04 road, from the Krynychky police post to the border with the Kirovohrad region. Tender procedures are currently underway to determine the contractor.
In total, there are more than 9,000 km of state and local roads and 675 bridges in the region.
According to the plan, 248 km of roads of state importance are planned to be built and put into operation in 2020 in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration Oleksandr Bondarenko told the President that the overhaul of local roads this year is 15-20% cheaper than last year, however the high quality of the road surface is ensured.
"That is, we build one kilometer of local roads cheaper compared to 2019. With funding and proper work, we can build about two and a half thousand kilometers of local and national roads in these four years. It will be a completely different quality of transportation for people," Oleksandr Bondarenko said.
"It's nice to see that the Dnipropetrovsk region and Dnipro are being built as part of the "Great Construction". We have known this region since childhood, and all the roads that have been absent since our childhood. Therefore, I am very glad that all these fundamentally important roads are being built, completed or started to be built this year," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a conversation with the media after inspecting the infrastructure of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The President stressed the need to create conditions for the residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region to be able to reach the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea by quality roads by the next holiday season.
"High-quality roads connect our country," he added.
Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that the National Program "Great Construction", initiated by the President, has gained momentum in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In addition to the main sections of the M-04 highway, which will be commissioned this year, it is also planned to repair the H-11 highway in the direction from Kryvyi Rih to the city of Dnipro.
«On August 31 we will sign the contract and the work will begin. We plan to finish it this year,” Oleksandr Kubrakov noted and added that two more sites of this road in the direction of Mykolaiv will be completely made.
According to Oleksandr Kubrakov, work is underway on the H-23 highway in the direction of Kropyvnytskyi, R-73 highway, which connects Nikopol with Dnipro. In addition, work has begun on the bridge near Nikopol. Oleksandr Kubrakov called the H-31 highway the main object in the region.
"We are commissioning the first 30 kilometers of the road, we hope to start 29 kilometers soon and provide the road at least to the border with the Poltava region by the end of this year," he said.
The President of Ukraine also noted that many schools, kindergartens and stadiums in the region are being repaired as part of the "Great Construction", and all of them will be commissioned this year.
"It's also a great result. I congratulate you all on this result," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
