President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the renovation of the M12 Stryi-Ternopil-Kropyvnytskyi-Znamyanka highway, which is being carried out in the framework of the Great Construction program.
The total length of the highway in the region is 140.7 km. This year it is planned to upgrade 56 km at the expense of the state budget and another 41 km - within the project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“The M12 road is part of the international GO Highway corridor leading to Odesa. If we talk about the Khmelnytskyi region, this year we will do all the necessary 100 km. In particular, we are making a bypass road,” Chairman of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov reported to the President.
The Head of Ukravtodor also said that this year it is planned to complete the repair of the road from Khmelnytskyi to Kam'yanets'-Podil's'kyi.
Currently, the work is held according to the plan. The renovation is being carried out in parallel by four contractors on eight sites. At the same time, the current average repair is underway in five areas, along the entire length of which the lower layer of asphalt pavement has already been put.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy was informed that it was planned to upgrade 208.8 km of state roads and 137 km of local roads in the Khmelnytskyi region in 2020. UAH 6.1 billion is provided for this. However, the President asked to make additional sections, so the length of the repaired roads of state importance should reach 230 km.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that at the local level, roads leading to hospitals, hub schools and kindergartens should be renovated and built.
"Yesterday we were in the village where the garden is being built. Is the road planned there? We came to the people, we promised them. Why build a kindergarten for them, if there is no road there?” the President asked.
In response, Head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration Dmytro Habinet noted that the repair of roads to a number of social facilities has already been planned this year, and in 2021 there will be a project to the mentioned kindergarten.
The Head of State also got himself acquainted with the plans of reconstruction of the Khmelnytskyi Airport. It has not been operating for 20 years and is in poor condition. It is planned that the airport will be used as a cargo hub. UAH 1.5 billion is needed for the reconstruction of the runway.
The President offered to discuss the reconstruction of the airport with logistics companies interested in air transportation.
"There may be an international freight corridor," the President said.
In addition, the President supported the adoption of amendments to the legislation that will help attract additional funding for road construction in Ukraine.
