President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Boryspil Multispecialty Intensive Care Hospital in Kyiv region and had a tour of the hospital to see the repair work, which has been going on since last year at the request of the Head of State.
The president inspected the condition of some of the hospital's premises after the overhaul and inspected the new reception area with an exam room, a day care ward and a shock ward.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the stroke department and the sanitary facility of the neurology department, as well as the day ward of the children department.
The head of state personally checked how the electronic queuing system works in the new reception room.
The medical institution overhauled the infectious, reception, polyclinic departments and renovated the facades with insulation. Children and adult intensive care departments are equipped for emergency care. An endoscopic office, a procedure room, and a special room for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were also equipped. For the first time, an automatic fire alarm was installed in the building.
"The Emergency department has been fully equipped. We have an adult ward and a children ward. We did them with extra beds, because there is the Boryspil airport, the international highway nearby. We must be ready for emergencies and, if necessary, deploy additional space and beds," Chief Physician of the Boryspil Central District Hospital Oleksandr Shchur said.
He also said that health workers, 70% of whom are high level certificate physicians, are constantly working to improve the level of medical care.
The President was informed that all major planned repairs have been completed at the hospital. It remains to reconstruct only the maternity ward. This will happen before the end of the year.
"At the very beginning of my office, I visited one of the hospitals in Boryspil first. We saw what the conditions were before and in what the condition this hospital was. Now we see a completely different, modern hospital," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The head of state said that many details need to be renovated to further improve the living conditions of patients. It is also necessary to deliver all the necessary modern equipment to the medical institution.
"We will receive all this equipment from abroad. And I am sure that we will have a wonderful hospital in Boryspil," he said.
Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov said that the renovation of the Boryspil Hospital is another proof of the positive changes in the state's approach to the renovation of medical infrastructure.
"Today we saw that any difficulties and restrictions rest on the side when it comes to the lives and health of our citizens," Oleksiy Chernyshov said.
He also added that the plans include the construction and reconstruction of 210 reception offices in various areas.
