President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The President expressed gratitude for the work of IAEA missions at Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The parties agreed to enhance the missions’ operations, particularly at other key energy infrastructure sites.

President Zelenskyy also thanked the IAEA Director General for supporting Ukraine’s strategy to complete the construction of nuclear units at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.

"The completion project is key to Ukraine’s energy independence and regional energy stability. It is crucial that Ukrainian MPs support this project," stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The President emphasized the importance of returning the plant to Ukrainian control and invited partners to cooperate in the energy sector.

"We invite our partners to work with us in this field – it is a mutually beneficial endeavor. It is energy that will make Europe much stronger and our relations with America much more mutually beneficial," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Special attention was given to IAEA's role in securing the release of Ukrainian hostages taken by Russian occupiers in Enerhodar.

"We expect the IAEA to be actively engaged in efforts to secure the release of these Ukrainian citizens," emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
