The Ukrainian authorities will never be exhausted to strive for peace and return our people and territory, because this is what all the Ukrainian people want, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his stay in the area of the Joint Forces Operation.
The head of state said that achieving peace is the key to economic growth of the state and improving the quality of life of every Ukrainian.
"Nobody is going to surrender anything. We have a strong, powerful army. We respect it. That is why we are fighting for Ukraine, we are fighting for such heroes so that they return alive," the President said speaking to the media.
A representative of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) Andriy Ordynovych confirmed that despite some provocations from the militants during the truce, the mood of the Ukrainian military is positive and they are ready to fight. They are ready to continue to execute the tasks mandated by the military-political leadership of the state.
"When interacting with them, I would say this: everyone is determined to protect the state and get peace as soon as possible," he said.
Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the city of Maryinka in Donetsk region located nearby the front line and talked with its residents. They said that with no hostilities, the city is gradually reviving: people with children are returning, many local residents are beginning to repair their homes. At the same time, people complained about the lack of gas and water supply.
Chairman of Donetsk Regional Administration and Head of the regional military and civil administration Pavlo Kyrylenko promised that with the onset of peace in the city, it would be possible to safely begin construction work to solve this problem. He said that under such conditions, gas and water can appear within six months.
Additionally, Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to the leadership of the region and the city with a request to start restoring the infrastructure of Maryinka as soon as possible, in particular roads.
The President said that one of the ways to peace along with the Normandy and Minsk negotiations is the constant and persistent strengthening of our Armed Forces.
