With the support of Ukrainians, the new government has done in less than two years what other politicians had been promising for decades yet had not done. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a speech at the XI Congress of the Servant of the People party.
"Regardless of any of our positions, we never have the right to forget why we are here, who we were and how it all began," the President stressed.
He noted that these two years in power, the new team had to work in conditions of war, COVID-19 pandemic and global crisis, as well as to overcome the resistance of the old system, oligarchs, corrupt judges, deputies and officials, shadow landowners and bookmakers who evaded tax payment inside the country.
"My position is simple and unchanging: it doesn't matter who is against us, what matters is who we are for. And this is more than 40 million citizens of Ukraine. And thanks to their support, in less than two years we have done what other politicians had been promising for decades,” the President said.
At the same time, he stressed that today the main attention should be paid not to what has already been done, but to what has not been done yet.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the laws that will complete land reform, decentralization, and introduce democracy are extremely important for Ukraine now. Laws needed for judicial reform, economic growth, pensions, capital amnesty, fighting corruption, restoring justice and fulfilling all other promises of the government.
"The program of the President and the program of the Servant of the People party are our agenda. And no amendments will stop us on this path," the President said.
Separately, the President urged the representatives of the team in the regions not to wait for step-by-step instructions from the center, but to show initiative and change their community, village, city, region for the better.
"Please take the initiative and responsibility. Especially since we have provided you with everything you need for this: authority, funds and other resources. Let’s remember that it is thousands of small changes on the ground that make up global change in the country,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also noted that the Servant of the People party always has and will work not for a part of society, not for 73% or 54%, but for the benefit of all citizens of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the members of the Servant of the People party to focus on really important laws, not on trifles imitating activities, to demonstrate a sensible approach to politics and public administration within a single strategy.
The party should be a source of initiatives, reforms, projects, ideas, and most importantly - new, professional and decent staff for the country, as stated by the President.
