During a meeting with the staff of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored full support for the anticorruption bodies in the fight against corruption.
“You’ve faced significant pressure. We won’t influence you, however if someone puts pressure, tell us - we will put pressure on them. Contact us in case of any problem. We give you free rein,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President emphasized that society expected the anticorruption bodies to provide results, in particular deliver judgments of conviction as regards those who broke the law.
“We really want all top corrupt officials to be held accountable and get the sentences they deserve. Because society will never forgive us for the absence of punishment,” the Head of State stressed.
In turn, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Bohdan emphasized that the anticorruption bodies should meet society's demand for justice in a short time.
“Society pins hopes on you, on us, on young people, on the organizations that are being created and rebooted now. This hope will not last long, they will look at our joint work. And this is a mutual responsibility. In our future actions, we depend on you, and you depend on our support in a certain way,” Andriy Bohdan said.
NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and Head of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office Nazar Kholodnytskyi assured of their willingness to fight top corruption in the country.
Upon completion of the meeting with the staff of the Bureau, the Head of State held a meeting with the leadership of the National Anticorruption Bureau, Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
