On the Day of the Infantry of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the infantry soldiers, presented state awards and honorary decorations.
The ceremony took place in territory of the Mariyinsky Palace in Kyiv.
"Today, Ukraine celebrates the bravery and strength of its infantry soldiers - the very thing that gives our country the most significant results and the invincibility of our defense. Mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain assault military units... Our heroic infantry is the basis of defense on the battlefield, and therefore you are the source of strength for our entire Ukraine, for all those who fight for our country. The state stands strong because you are fighting with dignity - together with all Ukrainian defense and security forces! I thank you for that!" the Head of State said, addressing the soldiers.
The President noted that he is honored to congratulate them on Infantry Day, as well as honored to represent our warriors in relations with the world on a daily basis.
"Every time Ukraine talks to the world, the military achievements of our country's warriors are an extremely important and convincing argument," he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that it is not easy for the world to get rid of the long-standing illusions about the allegedly invincible Russia, but Ukrainian soldiers, in particular infantrymen, are overcoming this seemingly invincible evil, and with their resilience and courage are changing history, uniting the world around Ukraine.
"Every time I return from various trips with new powerful weapons for you, for Ukrainian warriors, every time negotiations at various levels give our defense more opportunities. This means that the world believes in you, our warriors, believes in Ukraine! And this is thanks to your heroism, thanks to the fact that Ukrainians and Ukraine are invincible!" the President emphasized.
The Head of State noted that great warriors gave their lives for Ukraine to live and win.
The attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of all the heroes who gave their lives for the sake of Ukraine's freedom and independence.
"Ukrainian infantryman! No matter what this enemy does, you are stronger! Yes, our path ahead is not easy, it is also difficult, like last year's path. However, now Ukraine is much stronger than last year or in any other year of this war for the freedom and independence of our country. Moreover, now Ukraine is stronger than at any other time of confrontation with this empire. Our time is the time to win!" - stressed Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Head of State wished the infantrymen to continue to be a reliable, unbreakable foundation of the heroic defense of Ukraine.
"Destroy the occupier wherever possible and impossible! Let the liberation of our native Ukrainian land become a personal success for each and every one of you. A success for which all future generations, your children, your grandchildren, all Ukrainians will thank you. Ukraine will win!" Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
