During a working trip to the Cherkasy region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the final stage of the reconstruction of the section of the state road H-08 Boryspil - Dnipro - Mariupol, which is being repaired within the National Program "Great Construction".
This year, 11.6 km of the route will be restored, for which UAH 402 million is provided. Completion of construction work is scheduled for October.
The President was informed that the upper layer of the road surface has already been laid on this section of the road, sidewalks have been laid, traffic facilities, lighting poles have been installed and road markings have been applied. Currently, work is underway to install the road safety barrier, lay paving slabs and arrange stops.
The reconstruction of the road also includes repair of the bridge over the Zolotonoshka River, built in 1974, and the overpass over the railway track.
During a conversation with the media, the Head of State noted that the roads in the Cherkasy region are really being built, and today everyone present could see that.
“Over the last 10 years, 50 km less have been built in general than we are building this year alone. Unfortunately, this is not because we are champions, but because the Cherkasy region was in principle uninteresting to any government at any level," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In total, in the framework of the "Great Construction" it is planned to repair 234 km of roads of state importance and 122.3 km of roads of local importance in the Cherkasy region in 2020. UAH 733.8 million is provided for the construction, reconstruction, overhaul and current repair of local roads within the subvention.
According to Oleksandr Kubrakov, Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor), the H-08 route will be built up to Zolotonosha this year.
"It will be a complete overhaul and reconstruction. European-style traffic circles. We are opening this overpass during September - we are putting the road into operation up to the Zolotonosha ring,” he said, noting that the reconstruction of a section of this route to Kremenchuk is planned for the next year.
According to the Head of Ukravtodor, this year about 100 km of the most important route of the Cherkasy region - H-16 - will also be restored. The priority is the direction towards Uman.
"The Uman bypass road has been completely repaired and put into operation, and we are moving further towards the Cherkasy region," Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
He named the H-01 highway, which is being completely repaired from the administrative border with the Kyiv region to the city of Smila, another important object in the region. According to the Head of Ukravtodor, the areas that were the worst on this route have already been renovated and put into operation.
Construction work is also underway on the R-10 regional highway in the direction of Kaniv, and three large sections in the direction of Chyhyryn are planned to be repaired next year.
Oleksandr Kubrakov predicts that in 2021 all the main highways in the Cherkasy region will be built, which will connect the region with other regions of Ukraine.
For his part, the President noted that next year the reconstruction of bridges and overpasses throughout Ukraine will be added to the "Great Construction" program.
"This is a very important program, there will be money from our international partners, but most of it will be our budget funds. Credit money will also be attracted, including from our state-owned banks,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
