President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the Okhmatdyt National Specialized Children's Hospital on the occasion of the Day of the Medical Worker.
They inspected the buildings of the medical institution, which were destroyed and damaged in the July 8 Russian missile attack.
Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health, and Volodymyr Zhovnir, General Director of Okhmatdyt, said that six hospital buildings were damaged, including two buildings in critical condition. The work of all structural units has already been restored, except the bone marrow transplantation and chronic hemodialysis departments, which are currently operating at other hospitals in Kyiv.
The President and the First Lady reviewed the hospital's reconstruction plan. In particular, Okhmatdyt intends to restore the facade of one of its buildings and construct a new building that will enable it to hospitalize 15,000 patients a year. In addition, the Olena Zelenska Foundation has taken on the restoration of the School of Superheroes: the educational classrooms at the medical institution.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Olena Zelenska talked with the children treated in the oncology department of Okhmatdyt and handed them gifts.
The Director General of Okhmatdyt presented the Head of State and the First Lady with a drawing made by one of the patients.
