President instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to take personal control over the investigation into the circumstances of the crash of a military helicopter in Rivne region

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Chief of the General Staff - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak to take personal control over the investigation into the circumstances of the crash of Mi-8 helicopter that took place in Rivne region late in the evening on Wednesday, May 29.

The helicopter crashed during a training flight near the village of Sestriatyn in Radyvyliv district of Rivne region. According to preliminary information, 4 servicemen from the 16th separate brigade of the army aviation of the AFU Ground Forces (Brody, Lviv region) were killed.

"This happened not in battle, but during the training flight. Fully understanding all the risks of military service, even in peacetime, I still insist that our army should not lose people during exercises and training. Therefore, I ordered Chief of the General Staff General Khomchak to take the investigation of this unacceptable accident under his personal control," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Head of State also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

"Your pain is incurable. But we will do everything for it not to be useless, for the death of your loved ones to help save lives of others. The state will not leave you alone in your sorrow," the President said.
