President: Roads and infrastructure are one of the most important priorities for our state

During a working trip to the Zakarpattia region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited a checkpoint on the border with Hungary. The President got himself acquainted with the state of implementation of the National Program "Great Construction" in the region.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Great Construction is continued despite quarantine measures in Ukraine.

"We saw five kindergartens and five schools, which must be ready in spite of everything, so that on September 1, happy children can study in normal conditions. Construction of seven sports complexes has begun, even in the areas where it has not taken place for many years," the President said.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that within the program it is planned to repair a record 370 km of roads in Zakarpattia by the end of the year.

“This is a really big number, if from 2018 to 2019 we had about 600 km for the whole country without the Mariupol road, then there are almost 400 for one region. Roads and infrastructure are one of the most important priorities for our state,” he said.

Separately at the checkpoint, the President visited the bridge crossing over the Tisza River. The Head of State was informed that the traffic on the bridge is too dense due to its low capacity. And it is impossible to upgrade the object by increasing the number of lanes.

"We will work to make two more normal modern checkpoints to unload traffic," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

It is planned to introduce an electronic queue to optimize traffic at the Chop checkpoint. It synchronizes the arrival of vehicles, including trucks, by time that drivers will be notified of in a special app or in the form of SMS.
