Despite the political will and non-interference of the Head of State in the activities of the law enforcement agencies, Ukrainian society has not yet seen the prosecution of those responsible for resonant cases, as stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“How can I not interfere with your work more, so that it finally yields the result that both Ukrainian citizens and our international partners expect? State Bureau of Investigation, Security Service of Ukraine, Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, National Anticorruption Bureau, Ministry of the Interior, Prosecutor General’s Office. We already have six bodies in place to ensure order and justice. Is there another body left to finally bring to life the proverb about seven nannies who have a child without an eye?” the President said at an extraordinary plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the Head of State, the new government has carried out a number of reforms to help law enforcers fight against corruption. In particular, they launched the Supreme Anticorruption Court, rebooted the NAPC, restored responsibility for illegal enrichment, adopted the law on corruption whistleblowers.
“For how long should Ukrainian society expect the results in the most resonant cases? We promised citizens a victory over corruption. Now it's not even a draw,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
Водночас Глава держави підкреслив, що настільною книгою для правоохоронців має стати Кримінальний кодекс України.
The Head of State stressed that the Criminal Code of Ukraine should become a desk companion for the law enforcers.
“I would like to give our law enforcement bodies two gifts. The first is a calendar. It should remind you that spring has come. The second is the Criminal Code of Ukraine. There is a suspicion that someone does not have it. I hope it becomes your desk companion,” the President said.
The Head of State also stressed the need to hear the report by all law enforcement bodies.
