President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the First Lady Olena Zelenska met with the athletes of the national Deaflympic team of Ukraine that finished third at the XIX Winter Deaflympic Games in Italy in 2019.
“The most important thing in this victory is that you have shown to all of us, to all Ukrainians, to the whole world that you are strong, that your spirit is unbreakable. Thanks to you, there is a feeling of victory in Ukraine,” the Head of State said, addressing the athletes.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the medalists on their success and presented state awards to them.
"It is not you who deserve these state awards. It is these awards that deserve you," he added.
Commissioner of the President for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Valeriy Sushkevych thanked the President for his attention to people with disabilities.
"It's not the first time when you pay attention to people with disabilities. We notice this attention. This is very important for the country, which embarks on a new stage of development today,” Valeriy Sushkevych noted.
Separately, President of the National Deaf Sports Federation Leonid Kasitskyi emphasized that the team was going to the Deaflympic Games in good spirits, in particular, due to the support of the First Lady, which addressed the athletes in sign language.
