Ukraine's initiatives to end the war in Donbas and return the temporarily occupied territories may be submitted to an all-Ukrainian referendum. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference.
"Today, the most important issue must be submitted to an all-Ukrainian referendum. I believe that this is the situation in Donbas. We have several plans - A, B, C - to end the war, return our temporarily occupied territories and people. And I am sure that after a while we will present a referendum on this topic to the public. This may be one of the plans if others do not work," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the law on the referendum allows citizens to initiate discussions on the issues they consider important. At the same time, he noted that referendums should be treated very carefully.
The Head of State also said that a bill on local referendums would be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada soon.
"This is democracy, this is decentralization. And this is very important," the President is confident.
