After the victory in the war with Russia, Ukraine aims not only to rebuild infrastructure and housing stock of its citizens but also to create the most favorable conditions for investors, which will be the key to the prosperity of not only our country but also the whole of Europe. This was stated by Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak when speaking at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which is ongoing in London.
"We set ourselves ambitious tasks. We need a new economy and a powerful economic leap that will become a driver for the whole of Europe," he said.
Andriy Yermak recalled the five-level concept of building sustainable peace through unity, stability, growth, security, and democracy presented today at the Conference by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said these steps should be implemented in Ukraine quickly, on time, and effectively.
"In the short term, we plan to restore huge volumes of transport, energy, social infrastructure, and housing for our people. However, the purpose of today's Conference is not only to discuss the urgent needs for Ukraine's recovery. We have to focus both on general long-term tasks and specific projects," the Head of the President's Office said.
Andriy Yermak called the construction of a new modern industry a strategic goal of the state.
"We need new production complexes in very different industries. That is why we invite businesses from all continents to Ukraine. This industrial cooperation will undoubtedly be mutually beneficial," he said.
The Head of the Office of the President said that Ukraine strives to live by "European standards" and not only to join the European Union as soon as possible but also to implement a number of internal transformations.
"We must be as attractive as possible for investments. Therefore, we are planning the development of logistics, transit, financial, scientific, and educational infrastructure. Just as we want to expel the occupiers from our land, we are committed to systemic internal changes," he said.
Andriy Yermak said that the process of reforming Ukraine continues, despite the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and hostilities.
"This work involves a whole set of reforms: from strengthening the judiciary, de-monopolization, and de-oligarchization of the economy to simplification of the tax system. Transparency and zero tolerance for corruption are key priorities," he said.
According to Andriy Yermak, only a strong Ukrainian economy will be able to maintain a strong army, which will be a safeguard against the repetition of large-scale aggressions in Europe, and therefore, Ukraine and its partners have a common interest.
The Head of the President's Office said that security is necessary for rapid economic development and the confident arrival of investors from all over the world. For this, Ukraine should become a member of NATO. And on the way to membership in the Alliance, it must receive reliable security guarantees.
